Ok, I know a lot of people weren't happy with Peacemaker's origin but...I really couldn't see it going any other way. It was literally the only solution for a gigantic problem, and I am completely ok with it. Yes, like most of you I adored Darkstalker. He was a fantastic villain and a really likable yet despicable character. His problem was that he was literally so OP that no one could kill him, so changing him was really the only thing that could stop him. He was given the choice to redeem himself, but he refused. If he had accepted defeat and changed his ways then maybe we wouldn't have gotten Peacemaker, the polar opposite of the tyrant. But alas, our favourite stubborn ol' villain had to be enchanted into the form of a baby Night/RainWing to prevent him from causing further damage to Pyyrhia.Β
And for what we got, Peacemaker is pretty damn adorable. I know he was described as being a NightWing with rainbow-coloured sparkles instead of white, but I just loved the idea of giving him little RainWing frills because they looked cuter. Peacemaker is destined to live a wholesome, loving life and I wanted his design to reflect that. If you look closely you'll see that I also gave him rainbow eyes.
I did, however, keep the white IceWing spikes that I like to give Darkstalker as a reminder of his past. I would also usually draw NightWings with black horns but in this case I thought it looked better to make them white to represent his IceWing heritage.

I thought darkstalker would choose death over the strawberry, killing himself, and only when he was dying would he discover that he choose to die himself rather than be changed into something hes not.. and thats how other dragons feel. Heartfelt goodbye between him and his mom and bam. Not sure if I like the peacemaker thing, the book didn't address how they forced him into another dragon (something thats been told time and time again is wrong) but then never addresses it after. Ah well

Inorder for darkstalker to have gotten his powers back the scroll needed to be burned.....
so it makes no sense

the majority of the scroll was burned, but all the little scraps that Chameleon ripped off remained, and kinkajou used one of the ripped off pieces to enchant the strawberry to change darkstalker into peacemaker.

yeah I get that but for darkstalker to get his powers back didnt ALL of the scroll have to be destroyed?

hmmm. that is true, however, what would make senseΒ is that there was only a sliver of the scroll in the book, so if most of the scroll was burnt, then Darkstalker should have gotten most of his powers back from it. That'sΒ my guess at least.

Darkstalker literally can't die though. He enchanted himself to be immortal. We still don't know if Peacemaker still retained all of Darkstalker's enchantments such as immortality and invulnerability.

I read into it as only darkstalker could make somethign that could kill him as he was immune to all animus magic except his own.... or he could have always put on an earring... We don't know enough about animus magic to know how it works when two come to conflict with directly opposing enchants (or do we and I jut dont remember? rip)

We learn during the last few chapters of Darkstalker Legends that animus magic can directly enchant creatures (when Arctic enchanted Whiteout to follow him and Darkstalker had to force him to cancel the enchantment bc it seems that one animus dragon cannot override another animus dragon's enchantments). Idk i honestly don't mind the Peacemaker resolution bc to me it seems like there really was no other choice

oh right I forgot about the whiteout thing. I still think if he wanted too, darkstalker could have killed himself. Peacemaker is really cute and so is this art! While I may not like how they handled peacemaker in the book I think we can all agree he is adorable

So adorable! I actually liked how Darkstalker became Peacemaker, I just didn't like how it was done. It really looked like he would voluntarily do it as an act of redemption, but then it felt like it was slapped in our faces when he outright refused to do it.

Definitely agree with you there, this literally was the only way he could have been stopped. People have suggested that taking away his powers would have been enough but I disagree, knowing him it seems obvious he would have done anything to get them back and thus only caused more harm. I think that, although not popular, this was the best course of action and an ending that was something different from the usual. And yeah Peacemaker's description sounded really pretty and I like how your version of him looks.
