Omg, I was rereading my favorites today and realized that this reminded me of "Vicarious Jacket Hugs," a poem I wrote the other day based on a very similar situation. Weeeeird sauce!

This is beautiful. Coming from someone who is in a long-distance relationship, this really captures the feeling of longing. Also, tiny suggestion, a semi-colon is used to link two independent clauses (that is two sentences that can stand alone). You might think about changing that to a colon, comma, or dash.

Now, for this one...that semi-colon was carefully chosen. 

A semi-colon is a gap just a little too big for the piece. 

An uncomfortable distance between one part and the rest. 

A long-distance gap.

Although I see where you're going with this, it still bugs me slightly. But that's ok! As long as you're conscious of it, that's all that matters. It is a nice pause, I just suggest, maybe, playing with the spacing? As is, its a beautiful piece, I'm totally just being nit-picky at this point. I understand that it was a conscious choice, so feel free to keep it! Just an outside perspective. ^^
