Description
V: Can I just guess now that this creature has nasty teeth and ripping claws?[...]
S: If the sleeping Earth EATS you with its "nasty teeth" and claws you with its "ripping claws", I WILL NOT be sad. Infact, you will DESERVE IT.
V: fine fine, let's just get it done.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Sedna, Vidu, Toilet Genie .
Rough sketch on tumblr.
Wolf and bird chase across the Underworld, tasked with waking a sleeping titan. Vidu of course has not seen this thing, only Sedna has, and previously Sedna hasn't described the creature's physical attributes. In Vidu's mind, this titan might be a really big BUNNY. It hasn't yet occured to him even though they joke about it here that waking this titan could be dangerous. Sedna is a toothy monster with retractable claws, but he hasn't yet shown any indication of being predatory or violent. No cause at all for alarm, here.

I really love classic ink drawings. I spontaneously decided to do a bunch of brush work on this TG panel, because I always make terrible time management decisions as a personal rule. This is a new high point: working on the appropriate task while simultaneously going to a lot more effort than could ever have been necessary.
Watercolor will still be applied to this image, as TG is a watercolor comic.
On a side note, thank you to everyone who has actually purchased my work in the past three or so years since I started TG. I went through college at such a level of poverty, I couldn't buy most of the supplies recommended by the professors. :/ I do think it made the quality of my assignments suffer, BECAUSE NOW I HAVE AWESOME SUPPLIES, like one of those absurdely expensive Windsor & Newton series 7 inking brushes, speedball ink, and that supremely fantastic Arches 140lb cold press paper. I can really see the difference between this 30$ inking brush and that 7$ one I had for years.

Excellent work as always. You have excellent control with ink (as well as watercolors!) which is something I'm always trying to achieve. I can't wait to see how it turns out once you lay some colors on.
I've always been reluctant to spend the extra money on better supplies because I didn't think I "deserved" them, considering my skill level. But it really does seem to make all the difference. Maybe it's time to move up from my second hand brushes and PRANG watercolor dishes 'u'
Thanks for the inspiration!

oh is that what you're using? I'm really amazed that your paintings are as good as they are! I think I've seen those prang dishes, they don't have much pigment, so the paint is very thin, and you have to administer many layers to get a rich color. If you have some extra money, you could maybe try Grumbacher paint. It's cheaper, I used it to learn on before I started buying Daniel Smith paint. You could start with just a few colors, maybe hansa yellow, alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue, and sap green and just see if you can tell a quality difference.

;-; I'm really glad you think my paintings are nice! My high school had plenty of quality supplies, but watercolors was a medium that they didn't really pay too much attention to, so any knowledge I have about watercolors is from those little dishes: [link]
Thanks for the recommendations! I'll keep them in mind when I'm shopping for school 'u' Incidentally, where do you purchase your supplies? I've been thinking about doing it online, since I keep receiving coupons through email.

I like to shop online at Jerry's Artarama and Daniel Smith. P: I get their email coupons and wait for sales or free shipping. That Thanksgiving - Christmas period of ULTIMATE EPIC SALES FEEDING FRENZY is when I buy most of my art supplies for a year.
=_____= I frequently get asked if I buy stuff at Michaels, or people go out of their way to recommend Michaels to me. If I were only buying one or two small things like tubes of paint or ink jars, I could shop at Michaels or preferably some other small locally owned shop with better prices. It's that I really DETEST Michaels. :/ Their prices are inflated, their selection is inferior, frequently their merchandise is damaged and disorganized because mothers bring their ten children to shop for scrap booking supplies (WHAT A FUN FAMILY ACTIVITY) and the children run wild. I started buying most of my supplies exclusively online when I went to Michaels and all the loose sheet watercolor papers were mixed on their racks, I had to rummage and go by sense of touch to sort out what paper was what (this would have been impossible for anyone not knowing what they were feeling for.) Once I'd sorted what paper was what (took 30 minutes) I discovered most of the Arches 140lb Cold Press were either bent up, had dirty footprints on them, or had been marked in crayon by some idle child. D8< And I am much too persnickety about it to accept any other brand, weight, or press of paper when I'm paying Michaels inflated 10$ a sheet price. Michaels also doesn't bother to provide big bags for that expensive paper. You buy it, your problem.
I left with no paper purchased and an extreme dislike of Michaels.
Then I ordered the big box of 25 sheets of that expensive paper from Daniel Smith (comes to a much better unit cost per sheet that way) and I felt no remorse at all when I payed 30$ for shipping alone. It all came bagged and packed in a box of superior quality that's very handy for storing original works in.
Of course, ordering big quantities online is only worth it if the sale is good and if you're certain you're going to use the stuff.

I do Jerry's as well! I have a few sites newsletters and try to hold out until I see something really excellent, like free shipping, too 'u'.
I have a Michaels close to me, but you're definitely right about the prices =n= It's not worth it even with a rewards card. It also seems like the staff isn't really trained on the different sections (I don't blame the employees themselves, though. I work at a bookstore, but I'm the farthest thing from a book worm outside of graphic novels and some classics).
I've never heard of Daniel Smith, I'll have to took into it .o.
Geez, I've never painted on anything better than Strathmore 400 series. It must be nice *~*

Yay! V and Puppy! I've been picturing them as Dr. Evil and Mr. Bigglesworth a lot lately. >.>;;; Don't ask me why.
Vidu: You have made Sedna upset. And when Sedna gets upset..........people DIE!!!!!!!!!!
Don't make him angry. You won't like him when he's angry.

Vidu's pose here is priceless. Also, the inking looks gorgeous... Can't wait to see it in watercolor.
I hear very frequently that the supplies really do make a difference. Yet wow... 30 dollars for a brush? Must be an impressive one.

I was hoping the brush was going to be automated or something. Like it would have a power button and I would turn it on and it was just do all the inking.
But lacking fancy technology, it's an awesome brush! The bristles actually COME TO A POINT, how revolutionary. Unlike the shit brush from previously.

Don't we wish?
Hoho, nice~ I mostly have those brushes that come in a pack for 5 bucks and don't even attempt to look like they have a shape, but they transfer the paint to the paper and at my skill level I've called it good. xD
