The weather here was far different than back home. Maleah and the dogs were used to cold, wet and windy days in the highlands of Scotland, so coming to Costa Rica was quite the change in climate, yet she found herself loving it, and all the dogs seemed to equally enjoy the warm, clear days, a break from the storms winter often brought back home.

She was excited to show off her dogs skills, and the dogs felt her excitement and returned it.

Walking out into the wide open space with Mosaic at her side, she couldn’t help but smile. The young malinois was a showstopper, from his bouncy, joyous movement, to his unique chimera coloration, he often turned heads wherever he went and today wasn’t going to be any different.

Despite the judges, audiences and the array of different smells, sights and sounds, his focus remained fixated on his handler. He performed a great heel for the figure of 8, sitting and downing when told, and not even moving an inch when Maleah moved away before returning to him.

Fast pace, slow pace, no matter what they performed he did as he was told and his brown eyes never left her, and the entire time his mouth was parted into a pant, making him look like he was grinning with excitement. Eventually came the bit that was often every dogs favourite - the bitey stuff! Mosaic kept his heel, until the decoy came round and made an attempt at an attack on the handler.

The black and fawn Malinois responded quickly, spinning around and taking a lunge for the decoy, not flinching at the yelling or the clacking sticks, his grip firm up until his release word was given and he returned to Maleah’s side.
