Description
I simply felt that gharials are very under-appreciated reptiles, and the woman's outfit is inspired by the trouser/tunic combosI saw many women wear around New Delhi and Jaipur when I went there, seeing as gharials are creatures from India.

People in the old days didn't have much self-preservation, did they?

Thank you so much, I can really recommend looking up more videos on gharials,
they're even more weird and fun in reality!

Great image. Though I have to admit reptiles are not in my favorite part of the animal kingdom.
(and I do understand gharial eat fish, not people)

I know reptiles aren't for everyone, though if you are scared of them I'd
very much recommend looking up the Snake Discovery videos,
I never thought snakes could be cute before, but after seeing those
videos I did!

Oh, not as much scared as exercising alternative bravery.
I would agree that reptiles can be beautiful in their own way. Not sure about cute.

If you don't think they can be cute, you should watch a video of baby snakes hatching!

Thank you so much!
And yeah, I've been to India, but unfortunately, I can't really recommend it. They have some undeniably cool places there,
but when I came there I was shocked at the sight of giant garbage piles on every street, handicapped and castless children begging
in the street, and the indifference towards it all, unlike anything I've seen in any other country (and I've been to a lot of places).
It's just so messed up to me that they literally have temples where rats are worshiped and fed like kings, yet let castless children
live in the streets like animals because they think they must have done something in their previous life to deserve it. And when I
went for a ride in a train I saw a man literally sit down and take a dump on the parallel track.
Let's just say I found it a lot harder to respect and appreciate indian culture after seeing that kind of stuff, but I did grow a greater
understanding as to why Prince Siddhartha Gautama chose to reject his society and live as a hermit in the woods after leaving his palace
and seeing what his homeland was like.

Wait what-
www.youtube.com/watch?v=2OOs1l…
WHAT. : O
I had no idea about this!! That's honestly really depressing, yeah. I've heard similar things, like how they refuse to eat any kind of meat (especially cow meat?) because they deem animals as holy. But it's still so messed up to see them ignore all those poor people and deem them as 'untouchable'. :/
AlsothethingwiththerailroadtrackohmY-
That doesn't sound like a pleasant experience, yeah. XD I've been to a lot of third world places and seen poverty of various levels, but nothing quite like those. :<
That being said, did you at least feel safe going there?

Yes, mainly due to the fact that I was travelling in a group of other tourists with both a tour guide and an Indian local guide,
and we were mainly visiting crowded areas during daytime, so not exactly a high-risk trip.
Though it also made me think about this whole white-privilege thing. I'm about as white as you get without being a beluga whale,
and in India, skin color makes a huge difference in lots of aspects, and white people are oftentimes still treated as better
there. Like, there were literally Indian tourists from other parts of India who came up to me and my sister to take pictures with us
like we were some kind of celebrities, and lots of older women came up to touch my hair like they'd never seen blond hair before!

That's good- traveling during the day is definitely a better idea, especially with guides (unless you run into any tigers during the day, uh-)
And man, that's crazy!! : O I didn't know it was like that in India. I had a similar experience when I went to the Dominican Republic. For some reason, the school kids there came up to our team and couldn't get off of us. XD And they were chanting stuff like "AMERICANA AMERICANA" and it was so strange lol!

Yeah, personally I tend to prefer charter trips, as all the boring stuff like travel arrangements and
hotel bookings are taken care of in advance. I know it may not be as "real" as just going abroad and
doing a bunch of spontaneous stuff with random locals, but it's just so much easier and you can just
relax and focus on enjoying the sights and learning cool stuff about the place without much hazzle.
And I'm not in the least surprised with your story of the Dominican republic. As a non-american myself,
I can say that for a lot of people outside the US most learn about it mainly from watching big Hollywood movies,
and from them it's easy to get the impression that USA is this magical schlaraffenland where everyone have
giant homes with trendy furniture, cool cars and anyone can be an astronaut if they just wish hard enough and
celebrities are everywhere, so the kids probably thought you were rich influencers or similar!

That's pretty good! I'll have to try that sometime.
And yeah exactly, heh- like my dad's first time going to the U.S. was in the early 2000s when my parents moved here, and he said that everything he learned about America was from television back in the day. And yeah, Hollywood movies and shows and whatnot can't depict life as it really is. XD
It's interesting to see how we all portray other countries/cultures in media. For instance, when I was watching James Bond (one of the newer ones), the Americans in it were either all CIA agents or businessmen who just wanted oil. XD I wasn't offended by it at all- in fact, I thought it was hilarious. Either British studios think that Americans are all like that, or they were completely aware and did it on purpose. Which is fair, considering how American movies portray British and Russian people in stereotypical ways too. : )

Yeah, Hollywood movies are pretty stereotypical.
And as for Swedish representation, it seems they've just decided to toss Stellan Skarsgård or one of his sons into anything meant to relate to Sweden or vikings,
so I'll just toss it out there that the number of Skarsgårds making up the Swedish population is greatly inflated in Hollywood films!

Ah yes, Stellan Skarsgård- I've only seen him in the Thor and Pirates movies. I...didn't realize he had so many kids lol! I'm sure I've seen them in other films as well. XD Do you have any favorite Swedish movies? Any that you recommend?

Well, if there is one great Swedish film I think you'd like, it's Skenbart , a dark comedy about a group of colorful people travelling on a train to Germany
right after the end of WW2, two nuns bringing refugees home, a man trying to kill his wife and run off with his mistress, a clueless war veteran
and a well-meaning author who wants to do good but causes injuries and destruction all around him.
It's a really fun period piece, and much of the comedy is related to the post-war setting.

Oooh dark comedy? YES
Oh man, this sounds like something I'd definitely enjoy!! : O It looks like there are a lot of colorful characters involved. I'm going to have to figure out where to watch it- it'd be great if it's on a streaming service somewhere but I gotta look. I'll keep you posted!

I think you will!
I saw somebody had uploaded the entire thing on YouTube, but sadly it was a terrible Russian dub,
so I do hope you'll be able to find a better copy somewhere.
