Before explaining the lore, I'd like to clarify that since Burntrap was never real, Mimictrap was also never real. Basically, Mimic is a classic case of a retcon.

Deep in the basement, below the old pizzeria, resides an old conglomerate of endoskeletons. Something seemingly made in a quick fashion. The endoskeleton once had control. It once knew life. But something evicted those protocols, that virus. Little did the evictor know, that made the endo even more violent. A few days after the endo was robbed of its personality, two people found themselves where the bot resided. A woman, and a child. What were they doing down there? It couldn't tell. Intrigued, it snuck up behind the two humans with a murderous intent. It was unsuccessful in its objective. Somehow the woman knew about the robot, and as it attempted to attack them, she kept shouting to the child. The child shouted back. With the endo in between them both, it started to get overwhelmed by the sound and suddenly began to copy, to mimic, the voices. But while in it's overwhelmed state, the woman managed to get it into a backroom with circus costumes. The endo, dubbed "The Mimic" by the child, remained discombobulated for quite some time. The woman took advantage of that and managed to wall off the room with concrete. As she was doing that, the child made a vent collapse. The two had trapped the Mimic in the backroom, hopefully forever.

Baby was never freed from it's control, until her death.
