The cutesy ducky sprite reminds me of the dolls used in Pokemon's Substitute move, hence the joke here.

The Megalithic Mainframe is a concept from the American Digimon V-Pets, it appears in the form of a computer when a Digimon dies, and reverts them back into DigiEggs, taking the place of the grave stones from the Japanese toys. It honestly works a little better, emphasizing the digital aspect if you ask me.
