According to his character bio, he will not be born for another 14 years and he being 13 years of age won't be for 27 years from now, so I can only imagine how much PC's will change by then, making Windows XP (by Alex's time it will be 40 years old) incomprehensible to normal users and the only people who can operate it correctly will be the people who used it when it was the latest OS or hobbyists. This is why he's having a hard time working it.
