Description
Just a little plugin I wrote for the Mycroft search bar that accompanies Firefox/Mozilla/Netscape. The plugin adds deviantART to the list of search engines in the Mycroft search bar. To install this plugin simply extract the two files in the ZIP file to the "searchplugins" folder in your browser's directory...Example: "C:\Program Files\Firefox\searchplugins"

It's outdated. That's why it doesn't work.

sweet, i'm using it all the time now.
Btw, the default path for firefox's search plugin folder is "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins"
Instead of "C:\Program Files\Firefox\searchplugins"

does it search deviations only? I mean, journals, news & forums are not included?

Cool. Found it by another route . I'm guessing it's the same one. Nice little plugin though.
Incidentally, if you've got Google Deskbar you can create a customised search on DeviantArt by plugging "[link] " in the search URL field(without the speech marks - If it changes it to [link] just copy link location and paste it).
Yay for Firefox!

Oops.... Was going to say you could list it on that directory until I found that one. Just assumed it was yours, but oh well. Great minds think alike.

Does this work with the new search feature, which anyone can use or does it just link to a dud page?

Cool. Installing now. Great job, man (You might wanna rename it and get rid of the google one... just to save confusion)

I've had the toolbar for a while, but now that the search feature is online again I've started using it alot.
Well - with a slight modification.

hey, soon the search feature will be re-done, and they say they will let everyone use it, so soon we have the power, or you can just use GOOGLE and type your search followed by site:deviantart.com , but that would just be too hard, and the results aren't as good as you would ge tfrom deviantart, cuz you can't limit it to deviations, unless you set it to site:deviantart.com/view/ ... maybe, but yeah. Cool idea, shame only subscribers can benefit.

Typical, the day I get this dA's search feature as a whole goes down. The bar seems to work fine though on WinXP, Firefox v 1.0.3. ^_^

Hey! I finally got around to trying these plugins out
(this one, and the non-subscriber one) I didn't when you first submitted them, because at the time I hadn't yet discovered the wonder that is Firefox
Anyhoo, they're very handy!!
although, I was wondering, is there a way to modify the file so you can view 120 results per page?
(haha, I'm lazy, and enjoy viewing as many as possible on one page)
Also, I dunno if you wanna add this to the description, but the way to install the plugins for Mac OS X is slightly different than with Windows; you have to ctrl-click (or right click) the Firefox application icon, then choose "show package contents," then go to Contents>MacOS>searchplugins and put the two files in there
Anyhoo, awesome job!! And like I said, can't wait to see what you come up with next!

deviantART changed the favorites icon (favicon) to [link] .. are you still going to keep the old one on the plugin, or going to use the new icon?

.. Maybe I'm just dumb, but I unzipped the files into the searchplugins directory, closed firefox, and re-opened it and the search bar hasn't changed at all.. there's no dA searchbar. Does the computer need to be restarted for it to work or something?

Click on the icon in the search bar, there should be a drop down of sites to search, deviantART should be in there.

It's great! If you make a new version maybe you could try opera, but it's still an exceedingly impressive tool.
