Is this cross-hatching technique wise? I can't quite put my finger on it besides knowing it looks like inking in some ways.

There isn't too much tic-tac-toe style crosshatching going on. The dense linework is usually single-strokes of the pen that I'll go over repeatedly to get the line thicker in areas of shadow. Still trying to find that right formula of lineweight, shading, and minimal rendering to get the point across.
