Description
*Note: This is a concept design. I'm working on making human Roscuro and bird Roscuro look more similar.Name: Roscuro Dela Rosa
Nickname(s): Feathers, Beak Boy
Gender: Male (He/Him, They/Them)
Voice/Speaking: Thick, Scottish accent. A bit of a 'ssch' in his speech; not a lisp, it's a 'ssch', not a 'stth'. Incredibly high pitched voice spoken way up in the nose, with a very scrambled and rapid fire way of speaking.
Species: Human (Eventually turned into a crow.)
Magic Status: Artifactual Magician
Height: 5'4", chubby, stout.
Talent/Ability/Interest: Alchemy/Collecting
Occupation: Alchemist, Playwright, Director
Location: Desdemona
Relationships:
Close friend and ex lover of Branch. Roscuro, to this day, is still infatuated with him, and hopes that their hearts shall entwine once more, because what they had was absolute true, star crossed, genuine love, god dammit.
Scratch that, genuine love was with Ollie , who Roscuro marries.
Absolutely 100% deadass terrified of Hortensia . Only room for one dark feathered sidekick, scrub.
Also very afraid of Neleus. He's heard stories about birds being eaten by concubi.
Personality/Backstory: Poor Roscuro has had it rough, but lord knows he's still just as chipper as ever. Maybe he's been permanently turned into a bird. Maybe he was dumped by the most beautiful man in the world. But Roscuro keeps that skip in his step and a gleam in his eyes. Roscuro is rather scattered and ditzy, often distracted by several things at once. He a little clingy and a little needy, and takes any sign of rejection incredibly to heart. While he has a fair amount of confidence in himself, that confidence can be dashed on the rocks in less than a few seconds. Roscuro has a tendency to be a little over dramatic, but that just makes him more fun.
Roscuro had a happy life as a licensed alchemist during the day and a Commedia performer at night. However, one fateful day, a fight broke out between two magic users. Roscuro rushed over to try and break up the duel, but was struck by a spellbeam. This hex just so happened to be a transfiguration spell, which turned Roscuro into a scruffy little crow. Transfiguration spells can only be undone by the spellcaster, and the sorcerer who hit him vanished shortly afterwards. So, sadly, Roscuro was doomed to live out the rest of his days as a bird. He's okay, though. Flying is fun. The beak is a nice perk.
Other Rad Things:
-Roscuro can still do alchemy, and quite well. He remains the only non human (?) to hold an alchemy licence.
-'Commedia Dell'Arte' is a form of Italian melodrama theatre mainly accompanied by masks to represent certain stock characters. Roscuro was a very popular casting choice when he was still a human, and often played the part of Capitano.
-Since becoming a bird, he still does alchemy work, but also is a self proclaimed 'trinket shop', which basically means he sells things like paperclips, buttons, erasers, etc.
-He and Branch met when the latter needed a temporary fix on his prosthetic leg. Roscuro, who was a huge fan of Branch's, instantly developed a big dumb crush on him. They were together for a grand total of three months, until Roscuro was promptly turned into a bird. Branch ended things for...fairly obvious reasons, but Roscuro is still in love. Everytime they meet, Roscuro tries to capture his heart again, but sadly, he is a bird. Branch is more of a 'demigods and fish people' kinda guy. Nonetheless, poor Roscuro remains convinced that Branch is his true love, and will never give up on trying to get him back.
