Description
This is a sacred item to me, in fact, i am still debating if i should even post it online. I will not go into details but this is a vessel, its a pouch that contains sacred items inside. It serves to protect. It is a skull i found in the forest, i was walking around in the bush and happened to look down right on time not to step on a skeleton i found on the soil right under a tree. The skeleton of this animal was resting peacefully on some very bright green moss under a tree and it seemed to me as if it was there waiting for me to pick it up and make something special with it. I did !! ... i am very happy and very honoured that i was given this gift of nature and that i could use it for something sacred and beautiful.
I am not sure at all what kind of animal this was but i love this item very much.
I did some of my braiding work on it and it makes it strong and durable.
I painted it too.

hmmm, I've come across my fair share of skulls in the woods, but I've never seen anything like this one before! I'm guessing a mole or a shrew? I don't think it's from a rodent, since I've found squirrel and rat skulls before that were very different looking.... (I don't know if you know, but moles and shrews aren't rodents, they're from the order insectavoria) but very cool indeed! I've been meaning to do something with the volume of bones I've amassed, but I feel nervous about doing anything, I guess I feel like i'd be defiling their grave or something by making something out of the bones...though, I have used the bones themselves as functional items....such as a deer rib that I used as a rib when doing pottery and a deer jaw that I used to cut flowers XD

I love how the braiding protects the scull and enhances it, making it into a numinous symbol that in turn protects you.

Thanks for posting something this personal. I find the idea of adding paint particularly attractive.
