Jade has a little trouble when she can't get out of the rain.ΒHad a lot of fun making this. It's not often my images actually convey something happening regarding story so this is a real treat!
it took forever to color but I'm happy with how it came out

Lol! Do you mind if I ask how you did the bark/tree texture?? Did you have to use a special tool or did you hand-draw each detail?

I don't mind at all! So for the tree texture, I downloaded a textured brush that was very jagged and chaotic. After cell-shading the shadow of the tree branch with a normal brush, I took the texture brush and traced over the shadow's edge to give it some texture. I then went back and cleaned up the jagged lines with the normal paintbrush so it wasn't so outrageous.Β
As for the rain, that was a downloaded brush too. I just varied the brush through several different sizes so it looks like it is raining in the foreground and the background

is there a story to these characters? because i checked your stuff and i dont see a story, just awsome art with some backstory to the characters every now and then. either way your stuff does have amazing potential for an awsome story of some kind, like a web comic or something.

I like how this one turned out. Even with the tree cover, it is never fun to be caught out in the rain like that. I hope Jade doesn't get chills! Though I am a little curious as to whether her blushing is from how utterly discomforting that has to be with what appears to be summer clothes⦠or embarrassed that she is caught like this in front of someone she probably knows? The expression does show valiant effort on her part to maybe power through this.
I also find the fact that the guy sitting in the tree doesn't seem to be having any problems whatsoever, I can only wonder if he looks concerned from her point of view, or maybe taking a little pleasure at the predicament?
