Description
This is Sammy the Sealion, and yes he is wild. This was not taken at a theme park, but another photo from our recent trip to Esperance.Sammy is a permanent resident at the pier, he seems to have cornered the market on fish scraps coming from the gutting table. Not a bad existence for a Seal. It also seems that Sammy has acquired a family as there were two other sealions around on of which was a baby.
He's quite happy to pose for a photo if you tempt him with a fish though.

awwwww poor Sammy... he was the symbol of Esperance. I'm sorry to say that this is not the real Sammy... the real Sammy was killed by the first every great white shark that entered Bandy Creek in over 25 years... his head washed up on the beach and it was soo sad... was some 6 years ago cause I was 8 or something.

oh, did you find that the baby was very shy and didn't show itself much? It was a bit on the hiding side when we were there.

Sammy is a classic... and the little fella was around too... he was stealing fish from sammy when he could get there quick enough...
I think there must be a family there now... you can see them snoozing in the sun during the day.
