Cyclops of Marvel versus Robotman of DC Comics. Two founding members, and sometime leaders, of superhero teams of outsiders.

Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, is a mutant classified as power level 7 and one of the founding members of the X-Men, as well as off and on leader. His primary attack is his Optic Blast, a powerful beam of ruby-colored concussive force that emits from the apertures that have replaced his eyes. His mind has a psionic field that maintains the apertures and covers his entire body, absorbing and metabolizing ambient energies (such as solar radiation, photons and cosmic rays) into the concussive blasts, making the energy for them practically infinite. He is immune to his own blasts and his synthetic ruby quartz visor is resonant to the psionic field, making them also immune and able to contain the energy. His blast can vary its range and diameter; can tip over a filled 5000 gallon tank at 20 feet and punch through a 1-inch carbon steel plate at 2 feet; overloaded the energy-absorbing mutant Bishop in a matter of seconds, with Tony Stark measuring his output at well over 2 gigawatts, more than a large nuclear reactor; and he has an uncanny sense of trigonometry, unleashing "banked shots" to ricochet and/or reflect off of objects, having been observed to cause his beam to reflect from over a dozen surfaces and hit his target accurately in one blast. He is also an Expert Pilot of fixed-wing aircraft; a Master Tactician & Strategist; an Expert Martial Artist, with black belts in judo and aikido and able to defeat six normal men with his eyes closed; and he has telepathic resistance, years of being in relationships with high level telepaths having allowed him to hone his mind to resist telepathic intrusion and withhold certain information.

Cyclops is equipped with his synthetic ruby quartz visor, made of high-impact plastic and able to vary the width of his optic blasts, controlled either from mechanisms on the side of the visor or from micro-switches in his gloves; and his X-Suit, which is made of Kevlar and is fire retardant, as well as offering a certain level of resistance to electric shocks, force impacts, and other basic types of attacks.

Cliff Steele, aka Robotman, was an obsessive daredevil who's body ended up being destroyed in a racing accident and had his surviving brain installed into a robotic body. He is a founding member, and off and on leader, of the Doom Patrol. His mechanical body's outer shell is formed by multiple layers of a special flexible ceramic metal, and possesses superhuman durability, stamina, and strength. He has magnetic plates that allow him to scale metallic surfaces with ease; heat coils on his palm plating that allows him to melt dense material with a touch of his hands; he can fashion his own robotic limbs into boomerangs which he can throw with great accuracy; and he has a mobile video transceiver mounted on his chest plate. He is also an Expert Driver; an experienced brawler at hand-to-hand; and he's experienced at acrobatics and swimming. Later versions of his body have featured various other functions, such as tools and weapon systems.
