May or may not make a new semi-open/open species for this guy. Haven't decided yet. Also, testing out my new linearting and coloring techniques. Getting the lineart made is faster... but the coloring... not so much.

Anyway, the working species name for this weird bat/gargoyle dullahan thingy is Chiropan.

Yes, their heads come off. It loves to pull it off to pull pranks or scare people, but is prone to dropping or misplacing it when it's off. It can control its body through any point of contact with it, but if the head goes rolling away, the body controls itself, Unfortunately, the body is kinda stupid without it, so... yup. Tried to make a nice cross-section of the neck, which was interesting. Since its head is technically cut off, it leaks blood from its neckhole even when it's on.

The bumps on its back are Aethyr pods. Aethyr is a bit like mana, but its form is indeterminate. The Aethyr in the pods can be extruded and solidified into any number of useful shapes and objects. Its bones are quite dense, but there's no marrow inside them, and its skull has at least one vestigal hole from an organ that it no longer has. Its eyes possess two slit pupils and two irises. It can actually focus each pupil independently.

If they do become a species, this is pretty much as basic as the species will get, since its quite plain.
