Description One of the most demanding shots I've done so far. Two hours sitting still and holding my breath on the border of a small lake in Black River Valley (Sweden). Mirror locked up, remote control in hand, and waiting for that perfect moment when there wouldn't be the slightest wind for the grass to be sharp, even though I had to set exposure on one second for water to be perfectly mirroring.

And then it happened, just when I was about to give up, my fingers frozen still around the remote for staying put so long in the cold morning frost.

But well, now I'm all warmed up in my apartment and I think is was worth it. Hope you do too...

EDIT: Thank you so much *AfricanObserver for being a constant and true companion here on DA, always interested in my work, writing nice and spiritual comments on most of my deviations. And of course for suggesting Calligraphy now as a DD. You really are a true friend! And of course thank you to ^DpressedSoul for featuring it.

EDIT 2: Thanks to one of the discussions raised by the comments on this deviation, I realize I don't mention enough my sources of inspiration. Ideas never come to me completely from nowhere, it's often images I've seen that have changed the way I see the world. In most cases, I can't quite remember or put my finger on which exactly, but in this case I do! It is a photograph from Carola Onkamo called "Calm Water" that you can admire here: [link]

In return for your appreciation, I uploaded the full resolution file of this photograph, which everyone can feel free to download and use as they please in the spirit of "copyleft": this image is not protected and I give up all my rights on it. Hope it can be a part of simply sharing the beauty of the world...

Two hours?!

Love is a crazy thing.

The image really is astonishing, it looks unreal with the way the color shifts away from near-black to near-white, and it catches this wonderful effect of three worlds layered over each other - under the water, mirror image on the water surface, over the water.

I take a lot of nature photographies, and since I don't have a particularly good camera (nor anything near _that_ amount of patience) I know full well that there'll always be better pictures of the same object out there. But this really is really singular.

The title "Calligraphy" fits spot-on: it's so simple and elegant, and slightly unearthly,  that I just want to keep looking at it.

Thanks so much uploading a HighRes file, because I might just give in to the temptation and have this printed out in high quality.

Thank you for your comment

I have it also as a poster in my house, this is one of the photos that still brings me a lot of joy and serenity when I see it in large format - I'm very happy if it brings you joy also!

I wont talk about colors,(tones are great btw), what strikes me is the composition, proportions are great, it is so dynamic, in contract with the "silence" of the scene. Love it.
