Description So I painted in the leaves, and added two glazes on just the leaves.
One of Burnt Sienna all over, and one Indigo/Cadmium red deep hue, for the shadows. The glazes will take a little while to dry, the next one I post should be of the finished painting.
From here I'll mainly work on the figure a little more, not much though because I like the way it's not perfect, I think if I paint it too clean, the shadows will lose their effect, and the painting will be too busy, and I'll add a tiny bit more to the leaves on the areas that are in sunlight, especially on her right.

Also I just want to point out that colours and lighting will be out, my studio isn't the best for taking images of my work. Once I finish it, I will get it professionally photographed and upload an accurate photo

The implied texture in the leaves is amazing. I feel like I could reach out and run my hands through them.

You must have infinite patience painting all that detail!

Thank you, I don't know about the infinite patience lol, I get so frustrated painting leaves, I'm doing a really big one at the moment and it's driving me insane, but I know it will look good when I finish, so I guess that's the motivation that keeps me going

Yes I saw your full figure comp, and it's looking very impressive. I think it helps, as an artist, knowing ahead of time what the end result will (should) look like - which for someone as talented as yourself is certainly the case. Nothing is more frustrating than starting a painting, getting halfway through and then stopping - unsure of how it's all going to turn out (do I/don't I continue ), i can be a real killer for motivation I think.

Yes, I think that's where a lot of people get stuck, when it's not looking how they imagined it to straight away.

I love the saying, "An artist never finishes a painting, he merely abandons it." I think everyone has the ability to paint how they want to paint, some people just give up earlier then others.

Thank you, I've enjoyed working on this one, although I am quite jealous of her! I wish I was laying in a pile of leaves rather then painting them
