Description
Mountain Craftsman Design for North Georgia mountains/pasture setting, 1700 SF first floor, 1700 SF basement with two bedrooms, bath, common area and kitchenette. Garage/work shop separate, already built. Plans underway now for construction in Spring 2019.Note: client's interests/hobbies include crafting medieval armaments/metalsmithing, including creating a suit of armor, so we will be featuring some blacksmithing/metalsmithing details throughout the home, on the front door, custom lamps, possible gable details, and other creations for client to build.
Style: good example of Mountain/Craftsman styling. Typical details include stone or manufactured stone foundation level and piers, fiber cement/hardiboard siding, shingle upper gables, deep roof overhangs, heavy timber braces/brackets/trusses incorporated in the porch and gable details, classic window muntin patterns, natural or grayish color schemes, extensive covered porches in front and rear with spectacular views, etc. Very common here in the piedmont/mountain areas of South Carolina, North Carolina, North Georgia, and Tennessee.
Note: I will update this summary page in later months as I make progress.

Maybe somebody can rig that up? A lot of my designs were "built" in minecraft or sims in the last 5 years.

Wouldn't you want the pantry next to the kitchen? Maybe within that thick region of wall separating the kitchen from the great room?

If they want a walk-in pantry it has to be wider/deeper than 2'(counter depth), so you end up with a location next to the kitchen usually. That section of kitchen counter open to the great room is also being re-designed a bit, that's not the final configuration. Each plan is different, sometimes even a walk-in pantry can be worked into the kitchen plan, but this one "is what it is."

Amazing Work! I'm studying rendering right now and as a coincidence I log in to DA and your work is the first thing I see.

Yeah I can hand draw perspective too, but 3D models are far more versatile and allow, among other things, multiple views of a design from many angles. Some folks spend a huge amount of time with advanced rendering techniques that create a photo-realistic effect, but I'm against that, takes way too much time, and I really want a rendering to be more artistic, more like a "tight" drawing. You don't have to detail out every little thing in the interior either to "express" the essentials of the layout.

Yes, we are still exploring options on shape of ceiling, but should be a few feet higher than 9' ceilings elsewhere.
