Description
The Dreadful FutureSkarr and the spirit arrived in the future. Skarr knew it was supposed to be Christmas now as well, but the streets were empty. The streets were usually crowded with last minute shoppers and families and whatnot, but no one was here now!
- “Spirit, where is everyone?” Skarr asked.
The spirit pointed at a poster on a wall. It said “Welcome to Terraville, obey your masters!” and nothing else. Skarr had never seen a poster like this… neither did he know his town to named Terraville.
- “Who are these masters?” Skarr asked the spirit.
The spirit led him to a big throne room in an even bigger building. Around the throne stood several royal servants doing their duty. By duty, I mean fanning the royalties as well as feeding them with grapes. On the thrones sat the couple of Jack and Vicky Spicer.
- “Are you sure?” Vicky said to Jack.
- “Yeah, I heard it from servant #891020, and you know he never lies!” Jack replied.
- “What did he die of, and when?”
- “No idea of what, but I think he passed last night… about time, I thought he’d never go!”
- “What’ll come of his money?”
- “No idea… I didn’t get anything! It’s unlikely to be an expensive funeral!”
- “You said it, I don’t know anyone who’s going to attend!” Vicky said and laughed.
- “I wouldn’t mind going!” one of the servants said, who was now met with weird looks from his masters. “If lunch is provided, that is!”
- “Well spoken, servant #891221!” Jack said and laughed. “Now keep fanning! I break one sweat and you’re executed!”
Skarr just looked at what had become of his nephew.
- “Has he no respect for the dead?” Skarr said. “Though I must admit, he’s one fine ruler!”
The spirit led Skarr away from the throne room to a dark alley. In the alley sat an old man, surrounded by three children.
- “Back from the house of sadness, I see…” the old man said.
- “The only sad thing is that the old fart didn’t die years ago!” a blonde boy said.
- “So true, Manfred!” a boy with purple hair said while playing on a GameSlave 6.
- “Now, what have you brought me, boys?” the old man said.
- “I brought his old VCR!” a black haired boy said and gave it to the old man. “I think it’s still working!”
- “A VCR?” the old man said and inspected it. “Those are quite rare, nowadays!”
- “That’s nothing!” Manfred said. “I’ve brought his gramophone player, now that’s rare!”
- “A gramophone player, eh?” the old man said and looked at it. “A little rough on the edges, but still worth a few pennies!”
- “You both suck, you know that!” the purple haired boy said and stepped up. “Ollie had a VCR, but no one uses VHS anymore since all movies are on DVD. Manfred had a gramophone player, but all music are downloaded, don’t deny that!”
- “All right, Gad…” the old man said. “What have you brought to me?”
- “I found this GameSlave 1.0 in the old man’s basement! This is both rare and way more enjoyable than a VCR or gramophone player!”
- “Really? Never thought the old man would be into video games… I don’t pay more for its fun-factor, though!”
- “You should!” Gad said. “It’s the only fun he has ever provided!”
Devious smiles spread on all four faces.
- “All right, boys, head home now!” the old man said. “And tell your mothers I said hi!”
- “See ya, BM!” they said and left.
Skarr was just shocked to hear the conversation.
- “I think I understand now, spirit!” he said. “This man they’re talking about could’ve been me… horrible thought! Please show me some tenderness in this world… or I’ll be tortured by this conversation forever!”
With a wave of the arm, the spirit transported them to a house that was familiar to Skarr.
- “Nergal Junior’s house?” Skarr asked the spirit, who nodded. “Thank you, spirit! This is a house of joy, isn’t it?”
The spirit removed its hood, revealing a green female face with a pierced nose and red eyes.
- “Tell me spirit…” Skarr said, mildly shocked to see the spirits face. “Why is it so silent here?”
The spirit pointed to a window. Skarr looked through it and saw Dani by the oven, just like before. However, less optimism was in her cooking. In fact, everyone just felt less joyful than before. After a while, one of the girls walked up to their mother.
- “Mother…” she said. “Are you crying again?”
- “Oh no, Regina…” Dani said. “I just get tears in my eyes of working in this dim light… and I wouldn’t want to show your father teary eyes for anything in the world! He should be here soon enough…”
- “I think he’s been walking slower these last couple of days…” Matilda said with a sad voice.
- “Oh no…” Skarr said from the outside. “Not little Gustav!”
- “Hi, everyone…” a depressed Junior said, entering the house.
His daughter went to greet their father, with much less optimism than the last time Skarr saw them.
- “Girls, go lay the table, could you?” Dani said to them.
They did as they were told, and the family sat down at the table. A long silence took place, until Junior broke it.
- “We all miss little Gustav…” he said. “But we must remember that he is in a better place now… and I doubt he would want to be alive to see what has become of our world now, anyways…”
Tears were shed after that speech. The spirit grabbed Skarr’s shoulder and pointed to the distance. The last thing Skarr saw in Junior’s house was an empty chair… and a crutch with no owner.

Thank you... but of course, I can't take credit for the story since it's based on Charles Dickens' novel "A Christmas Carol"...

Good job! Especially with thinking up new twists to the story. Of course, it makes perfect sense to have Vicky and Jack in that position (in the original, two gravediggers were having that same conversation as they did, right?)
Unfortunately, I had to temporary remove my complete Danny Phantom collection because of storage problems, and now I can't get it up again. So in short: I don't anything about know Lydia.

Actually, it was some random folks on the street that had the conversation in the original. It was the gravediggers in the Disney-version!

Oh yeah, I got them mixed up - Probably because the Disney version was actually the first version I ever got to know.

Yeah, that's mostly why I casted Jack and Vicky in their said roles...
In short, Lydia is the mute minion of the villain called Freakshow (Freakshow's one of my favorite characters... so of course he only appears for two episodes throughout the whole series). She has animal-tattoos on her body which can come to life and "escape" her body!

By the way, did you ever read the fifth chapter? You never commented or faved it... which you always do!
