Awesome how the reflection rings somehow continue into the rails and the corridor lightning.Β Β Is this more or less how it turned out or did you purposefully align everything Β ?Β

The effect kind of moves with the camera so it's hard to predict where they end up. I do know that I took many photos and selected this one ultimately.

Was this all in camera too? Were the arcing lights done via long exposure with movement? o: As someone with a really beginner level idea of how photography works, I'm blown away by all the crazy stuff you manage to pull off, hahah.

Great question! All in camera as usual. This kind of effect can be achieved by shooting along the reflective surface of a piece of brushed steel or aluminum. But shooting across the grain or along the grain you can get the different effect. For example the effect at the bottom of this shot is caused by the same thing: Interdimensional Blend
I believe shooting along the grain causes the swirls, while across causes the lines like in the linked image. I know how to achieve it, but don't ask me what is actually physically causing the swirls to appear. It's something about how the tiny grooves in the brushed steal line up from the perspective of a single point like a camera or eye to create the illusion of swirls.

Ah, now that you've pointed it out I see it, but I didn't even realize the railing was there, hahah! Very cool, and thank you for explaining!

Are you using Fractal filters for these pictures?Β Nice job!

All in camera with no filters! This is done by shooting along a piece of brushed steel, along the grain.
