I do not know if this particular canal is one, but in the alps there are very old canals (predominantly french speaking alps and Switzerland not Austria though). Canals used for irrigation of fields. They can be kilometerss long and can date from Roman times. They are known as a "Bisse"

I really don't know. The watermill where this belongs to might be from the 17th century but the watercanal sure was replaced several times.

That is so cool. I can't tell but it looks like some of it is made out of wood and some stone. Great picture though. Thank you for sharing.

Yes, that's right. As long as it is on the ground it's made of stone but made of wood when it leaves the ground.
