I know what you mean, the vibrant colours just look quite yummy. My hamster made a beeline for it when it was on my desk and tried to nom the bunny and carrot (no harm was done to them) but she was quite miffed that they weren't edible

Have you thought about doing one that's kind of like a stained glass window? I think if you got a stone with different flecks of colour in that could be quite pretty. Though I'm by no means an expert, I get a bit intimidated by real gems, I just worry about ruining them.
Also, do you mind if I feature you in my little craft tumblr? ^^

Hmm, I haven't considered it yet, but now that you mention it, it's a really good idea! Ofcourse, all of my art-making has been paused for now, due to exams. But I'll give it a try as soon as I resume 
The good thing about clay, is that even if you don't like the result, you can just make it over. And the gems are really strong, they can take being baked over and over without being damaged at all. If you can find a cheap provider, you can get gems for as cheap as a dollar a piece, so even if you're not satisfied with the result, you won't have to worry about throwing away money, and so you can experiment!A good alternative, and cheaper but also impressive is glass cabochons. If you need any advice when it comes to using gems or glass in your creations, don't hesitate to ask, I'd love to help as much as I can!
