Headcanon's ahoy:

All hail the right ruler of Sugar Rush, the sovereign of Sugar, his royal sweetness, Prince Candy!

Well.... when he says 'rightful ruler', he means someday maybe in the distant future and 'Sugar Rush' he means the online MMO game, 'Sugar Rush Realm'.

Complete with the Ramune soda sea, a maize of Candycorn fields, the Rocky Road Mountain Range, Sugar Plum orchards, Cinnamon Cliff Canyons, Taffy Swamps, Candycane forests, Peanut Brittle plains and much more, this online experience takes its design from the ever popular arcade game, Sugar Rush Raceway, and expands on the world that gamers the world over have come to love and adore. Sugar Rush Realm has every type of terrain to entertain the avid online gamer, with twists and turns around every sugar coated corner and never slows down, with it's realtime mechanics. And, as an extra nod to the vast history of racing and to the era Sugar Rush Realm is set, gamers get the option to utilize brand new, historic designs now available in the Bake-a-Kart mini game. Also, gamers should be aware of the new expansion packages now available for purchase that include Candy Hollow, the town made entirely out of sweets, and the Frosting Falls area for extra exploration.

In the center of this saccharine world of sweetness sits the royal sugary spires of Sugar Rush castle, center of the monarchy and home to the royal family of Sugar Rush. The youngest member of the sovereignty, Prince Candy usually spends his time wandering the grounds, usually the orchards where the candy animals roam, messing around with the guards, playing with his little toffee figurines, attempting to sneak out of said grounds, playing his candy-liope, or hanging around the stables so he can visit Skittles, his uni-candycorn.

While he might seem like a royal pain in the rear, Candy is actually a very goodnatured little boy who unfortunately finds himself alone a lot and thus lonely. Of course, that's understandable enough when he spends practically all his waking hours stuck inside the castle with little to do. There's no one around inside the castle who's his age and even though the acting ruler does try to spend time with him when not in court, unfortunately court can be days on end. Plenty of players roam about during all hours of the day and night, but as it is, they leave after a while and he can't join in on the fun as it stands.

Not yet, anyway.

Unfortunately for his royal shrimpiness, Prince Candy is a special sort of NPC, or rather, he's not an NPC at all. He's an unlockable character that can be attained if the player manages to clear the top scores in the main games of each area, and then when unlocked, can traverse all over as a sort of companion to the avatar of the player, even to the point of leaving the mainframe of Sugar Rush realm and residing in the computer as sort of a shimeji sprite, though not one who multiplies like a pair of chocolate rabbits.

However, the programmers or some one of that sort set the game scores far too high and to date, no one has been able to surpass the default scores, hence his boredom and loneliness. There have been some that came close, but as soon as they came within a certain range, the scores would immediately get higher the next day. If he was really honest with himself, as absurd as it sounds, it sometimes feels as if the game doesn't want him to leave.

But of course that's just silly.

If only he could find someone to surpass the high scores of each individual game and best the boss in a one on one race, then he'd be unlocked as a full fledged character, free to come and go as he pleased and accompany the player wherever they chose to explore.

Until that day however, the oreo guards had just better get used to being doused with milk from over the side of the gate.
