The clouds were amazing that day, sometime between storms. I was traveling between Minot, North Dakota and Rapid City South Dakota - a long drive, but a very spectacular sunset that day. There are times I am very disappointed I cannot capture the true beauty I see, but that is the challenge that keeps me trying all the time. This church was out by itself for the most part, and there are many like this throughout the area. This one is in good repair! You are correct, the steeple provided a wonderful place for the sun to hide, and looking at the shadows on the ground made it easy to find the right spot. This is a 3 picture bracket, free standing, converted to hdr. It's fun doing these shoots, and then exciting to load them into the editor to create the art.
