Description

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

It's Memorial Day, a solemn day, remember those who fought and died for our freedom
APH America (C)Hetalia
In Flanders Fields  by John McCrae, May 1915
even though the poem was written by a Canadian, it should stand for any sacrifice in the heat of combat, no matter if allied or against.

America has lost his glasses in the heat of battle, they were broken. much like the spirit of the Lost Generation. Even though we arose a superpower, the War itself destroyed those who took part in it.

What a coincidence, i just finished watching a video on the history of the poppy, the only plant to grow in "no mans land" in the western front.
