Eventually, Charmy splashed out of the water and struggled to swim, “Chaah! Charmandaar!! Chah- ……mander.” …Until he realised that he could stand in the water, which only reached near the top of his legs.

After shrugging off his luck, he was about to leave the tiny, shallow pool, “…Char?” Until he saw something under the water, that seemed to glitter. Curious over his fear of water - and the strip of seaweed that was settled on his tail - he walked towards the sparkle. He bent over to reach it with one hand, while he made sure his tail fire did not touch the water with the other hand holding it.

“Chrrrr…”

He then lifted the source of the glitter up from the water and held it with both hands.

“…Chaahh!” He smiled at how nice it looked, as it seemed like the top lid of a pink clam shell. And it almost looked heart-shaped.

He brought it with him out of the water, as he knew exactly what to do with it.

“Grr, stupid sand!” One Krabby annoyingly shouted, after Blitzle had fired a shockwave into the ground and created a big but temporary fog of sand between him and the crabs to help the trio evade them.

Kingler growled after he was phased by the action and marched through the fog to find that, on the other side, the Blitzle, Shinx and Vaporeon were no longer in sight. He made a thud into the ground with his bigger claw in frustration, “They got away!! …Well, that crabs it, the hunt is over. Back to the sea, brethren! I’m not risking chasing them down and alerting any other surface dwellers.”

“Yeah, too right, chief.” One Krabby replied, “Especially if we catch the Absol’s atten-“

“YOU DARE SPEAK OF HIM?!” Kingler thudded the one Krabby into the sand with his claw, “Ugh, even you Krabbys need to keep your tiny mouthes in check…”

“…NnnnnGH!” The Krabby popped out of the sand and hurried to rejoin them, “S-sorry, chief…!”

With the sound of their footsteps getting quieter, Sapphire, Blitzle and Sparks were laying down, hiding behind a big, crab-claw-shaped rock and panting from the chase, for a while…

…until they all laughed together, “Hahaha! You’d think they could catch us through sand when it doesn’t affect their eyes in the water? What a bunch of losers!” Blitzle scoffed.

Sapphire agreed, “Yeah, who’d have thought a ‘sand attack’ would save our lives?! Haha!”

“Heh, not me, not in a million years…” Sparks admitted, laying on his back and looking like the most tired out, “…Does this mean the exploration’s over, Blitzle?”

Blitzle got up, “Yeah, we did good! We should head back to Pik-Island Square and chill.”

Sapphire also stood up, “Oh! I’ve heard of that place! Me and Charmy haven’t been, yet. We should….wait. Where is he?”

“Huh?” Blitzle looked around, “I thought he was next to me! Oh shoot, he didn’t stumble behind, did he??”

“Uhh…!” Sapphire looked worried, “We should find him, before-“

“Wait, no need!” Sparks interrupted, after getting up and pointing in a certain direction, “There he is!”

“Cha-ar!” Charmy waved at them, walking through the sand and drenched with little sea water, again.

“Oh, Charmy! …You’re safe.” Sapphire looked relieved, “I was worried those crabs got you…”

He then stood in front of Sapphire and presented the clamshell he found, “Gasp! …Charmy…” she looked amazed by its appearance, “…What is this shell? …It’s beautiful!”

“Wow, how did you get that?” Blitzle was honestly bewildered by it, “It’s not a Clampearl’s, that’s for sure!”

“I guess that explains why you fell behind!” Sparks figured out.
