laurel....is a friend of mine....well she is my best friend...this is gift to her......there is alot of symbolism in this....I don't expect her to understand it, but it has been on my chest for so long I figured I could release it in a drawing....I hope someone can understand...Related content

sorry, for all the comments on select pieces from your gallery, but it's difficult to just look at it, and marvel at the amazing skill through it and just pass up the meaning. when, i looked at this, i saw a man, with open doors to his heart, underneath all of his horns and appearance, and layers, below layers, feeling. it's amazing and the best sketch i've seen here. you most likely won't respond to this or even read my comment, but where did you learn all of this? did you go to one of those special, expensive art colleges, or just learn from reading, and studying alone? i don't know, but i'm really interested, and all of your pieces are absolutly breathtaking. thanks. this made my day better.
p.s. what kinds of pencils did you use for this? the colours are amazing.

thanks for the input, your interpetation pretty much hit it right on the nose of what i was feeling at the time. I created this for some girl named Laurel....she didnt understand it, she called it weird, but that was like 3 years ago. I didn't goto any expensive art college or anything I was still in high school when I created this, I'm now attending Indiana University and majoring in studio art. I just used a regular mechanical pencil and colored it with photoshop, thanks again for the kind words.

When I first looked at the thumbnail, I thought, "Hey, pretty neat." But I'm looking at it now, and it seems to be like the piece I'm doing now as rememberance for my deceased brother. Yours doesn't exactly look like it's an RIP image.. but it looks like it's some kind of "remember" portrayal. Good stuff.

yes... really a lot of symbolism.... what caught my attention at first was that there was something on the bleeding heart...
so I looked closer..... *OH! a WINDOW!! wow....*
and the crows... or ravens ... (what are they.... sorry.... )
and what I love most... is that he seems to be hovering over a pool of his own tears... with a huge bleeding heart dripping blood into the pool

This is an amazing drawing man. It really expresses alot. I love the neck and arms, really well done like muse said. I know someone said it was a lock on the heart and i guess i see that now, but when i first saw it, it struck me as being a picture frame with her silouette on it....? anyways, great peice man, definite favourite.

I have always loved your style. This is a really great piece. This might sound a little odd, but I really like the neck and shoulders - I think the neck is incredibly well done. And I really love your shading style, the way the lines move are just captivating. Wonderful and emotional piece - great job!

Wow.. this just oozes emotion.. I love the powerful imagery you used here. That's such a kickass style too.. the contrasting in the shading brings out the form really well.. it looks really sculpted.
