I like the idea but you are right... it is missing something... too solid of a pattern and it needs something to break up the monotony (even though that is what youa re trying to show).
Maybe some sort of text? Wallpaper title... maybe mess with the light too. Change it in different areas of the piece.
I like the idea, though.
