"Kairi, please-"

"Riku, look me in the eyes."

Kairi crossed her arms over her chest, a determined look in those pure blue eyes. Riku's hands coiled into fists, still evading her gaze. Kairi's straight face turned into a frown as she moved towards the boy encased in black clothing. Riku tried to back up, but Kairi grabbed the front of his cloak, pulling him down to look at her.

"Look me in the eyes when you say that." Kairi said again in a low, lethal tone.

Riku cringed, still trying to look away.

"Riku!"

"Fine!" Riku exclaimed, grabbing Kairi's shoulders, looking her square in the eye. "I've been drenched in darkness! I tried to use your heart to get to Kingdom Hearts! I tried to kill you! I'm nothing! I'm worth nothing!"

"You are NOT worth nothing." Kairi said, an edge in her voice, "You are worth something. You're worth everything that's happened. Riku, you are you. The darkness had a hold on you, sure, but you beat it back. Sora and I, we believe in you! And you're here because you care about us! You wanted to help us and you HAVE."

"Kairi… You see things so differently than how I see them." Riku mused, tracing the fifteen-year-old's face.

"Yeah! I see things the way they are! Riku, just because what happened did happen doesn't mean that you're a monster! I believe in you." Kairi said with a more gentle tone, "I've always believed in you. No matter how dark the scenario, you came through for me and Sora! So… So stop being so mopey! We've gotta get to Sora before it's too late! He's counting on us, you know!"
