Description I slowly opened my blue eyes to see an equally blue sky. Ah, thank god that it was only a dream. I sat up, shaking sand out of my chin-length brown hair and dusting off my denim shorts, red zip-up tank-top, and black and white short-sleeved jacket. And I decided to lie back down, only to be met with a face hovering close to mine.
"Aack!" I nearly flipped over.  I quickly readjusted myself into a sitting position. Kairi giggled. "Aw, gimme a break Kairi!"
"Sora, you lazy bum. I knew I'd find you snoozing." The breeze played with her short reddish-brown hair, purple skirt, and layered black and pale lavender shirt.
"No! This big black... THING swallowed me up! I couldn't breathe! I couldn't- Owww…" I rubbed the back of my head with my white fingerless-gloved hand. My head hurt…. Did Kairi just hit me?!
"Are you still dreaming?" She asked.
"It wasn't a dream. … Or was it? I can't even tell…" I sighed, "That place… It was like walking on stained-glass windows… So weird…"
"Yeah, sure." She said as she walked over to the water's edge, gently lapping at her light violet shoes.
"Say, Kairi," I began, sitting up and crossing my legs, "What was your hometown like? You know, where you grew up?"
"I've told you, I don't remember." She answered, putting her hands on her hips and looking back at me over her shoulder.
"Nothing? Really?" I asked, tilting my head.
"Nothing at all." She replied, closing her eyes and letting her head lower.
"Huh… Do you ever wanna go back?" I asked.
"Well… I'm happy here…" Kairi's hands were clasped behind her back as she looked out to the sea.
"Really."
"But… I would like to see it." She said.
"So would I. Along with every other world out there." I said, a smile on my face. "I wanna see 'em all!"
"So, what are we waiting for?" Kairi asked as she turned around, a smile on her face.
"Hey!" I jumped at the voice. Aww Damn, he caught me. "Aren't you guys forgetting about me?"
I turned to face Riku, a bit of an embarrassed blush on my face. He tossed his head, moving his silver bangs out of his eyes. "So, I guess I'm the only one working on the raft." And without warning, he tossed the log he was holding to me. I squeaked as I attempted to catch it and not fall over, but failed miserably.
"And you're just as lazy as she is!" Riku said, directed toward Kairi.
"Eh-heh… So you noticed…" Kairi said with an awkward smile. "Okay, we'll finish it together! I'll race you!" She said just as Riku sat down next to me.
"Huh?" I said, an eyebrow raised.
"What? You've gotta be kidding me." Riku sighed.
"Ready… " Kairi began, seemingly not hearing us. "GO!"
And in an instant, Riku and I were up and running. What can I say? We're best friends and rivals. Kairi was far behind us. She's not much of a runner. I guess that you wouldn't say that I act like much of a girl. I mean, how many girls know how to sword-fight? And not many have guys as rivals. Well, whatever.
"…Hey… Sora. Sora, are you even listening?" Kairi managed to get me out of my daydream.
"Huh?" Was all I said in response.
"Jeez, Sora, you're hopeless. Can you get the rest of the supplies?" She asked.
"And YOU call ME lazy." I said with a giggle.
"Sora, please." Kairi looked at me with a slight pout.
"Okay, okay, just tell me what you need me to get." I said with a sigh.
"Okay, two logs, one cloth, and one rope. I'm counting on you." She said. And so I was off, walking around our island for supplies. It's kinda strange how we met Kairi. I was… What, six? Seven? I can't really remember all that clearly, but I'm fourteen now. She just showed up on the beach one day. It was really weird, but okay. And it was almost sunset when I got back to Kairi.
"Ah! Thank you so much Sora! Here, I found this today, you can have it." She said as she handed me a potion.
We all met up at the large, curved tree overlooking the sea.
"So… Kairi's home is somewhere out there, right?" I asked.
"It could be. We'll never know by just staying here." Riku said, his arms crossed over his yellow shirt.
"But… How far can a raft take us?" I questioned again.
"Who knows? If we need to, we'll think of something else." Riku sighed.
"Say that you do get to another world. What would you do then?" Kairi asked from beside me.
"Huh. I hadn't thought of that yet. It's just that… I've always wondered why we're here on this island. If there are other worlds out there, why'd we end up on this one? And, suppose there are other worlds. Then ours is part of something much greater. So, we could've just as well ended up in some other world, right?" Riku said. I leaned back on the tree.
"I dunno." I sighed.
"Exactly. That's why we need to find out. Just sitting around here won't change a thing. It's the same old stuff, so let's go." Riku said.
"You've been thinking a lot lately, haven't you?" Kairi asked.
"Thanks to you. Kairi, if you hadn't shown up, I probably would never have thought of any of this stuff. Really, thanks."
"You're welcome." Kairi said with a smile.
So we started to walk home after a few more minutes.
"Sora." Riku called. I turned and he tossed me something. "You wanted one, didn't you?"
"Huh- A Paopu fruit?" I said with confusion.
"It's been said that if two people share one, their destinies become intertwined." Riku said, "C'mon, I know you want to try it."
"Wha-" I started, then Riku winked at me and started to run. I dropped the paopu fruit and ran after him. "RIKU! I AM SO GOING TO GET YOU FOR THAT!" He just laughed as we continued to run.
