It's an Egyptian tortoise, Testudo kleinmanni is the Latin I believe

Well, I know that's what it is because I was working in a zoo at the time I took the photo, so they should know!

I didn't really get to know these guys that well, I was working in the department they were being kept, but they seemed quite friendly!

If ever there were a more friendly pet, than those buggers would be the ones. <3 They're a bit difficult to get the right food for, so they aren't good for first-time herp owners, but boy. xD My mom's are just the nicest little things. They don't bite, either. o:

Thanks I love tortoises, though I think if I had one as a pet I'd get fed up while it was hibernating in winter...plus my dog would probably try and use it as a toy.....

I wish I had a pet one too, but because of the hibernation and the fact they live for like, 50 years minimum is a huge commitment!

He's not a pet, I was working in a zoo reptiles department! Also, they're critically endangered so I don't think you'd be able to find any in the pet trade.

It's the result of a close-up filter on the end of an 18-55mm lens, taken really close to a very obliging baby tortoise!
