Description
Scale mail armor I am making for Comic Con. The design in the middle is inspired by a dragon provided by the outstanding ReniMilchstrasse, found here: [link]Thanks for all the input everyone! You've helped me decide to leave it its current length.
Please keep telling me your thoughts!

For a sexy warrior woman, the length is great. For a combat ready soldier, go past the waist... and if you want to put even more work into it Just builds patience to do more!

I find it fun, so not much patience needed! Just something else happening at the same time that's a little distracting so it doesn't get too boring. I think I will be leaving the length, but doing something else with the rest of my scales. Thanks!

haha yeah, I work best with Audio books, then I can be quite entertained without having to look away like with TV

I'm a big fan of bare midriff fantasy female armor myself, but I think you should do the waist length shirt. And I like the idea of the inlay but the small scales don't really work in conjunction with the large scales unless you use a true 4-1 weave with the scales. You lose rings and increase the number of scales per sq. ft. but it keeps the scales from distorting as much when they hang.

I got the scales from The Ring Lord [link] which sells all sorts of lovely metal supplies.

DONE for sure! Looks great as is.
As a leatherworker, I would add some leather trim to the neckline to a) disguise the first row back seam and b) to make it a bit more comfortable to wear with less underneath.
Great job though!

In adding a trim, would the leather go over the rings or behind them? I think I might be able to do behind, but that might just draw attention to the rings. I think I will at least add leather to the underside of the shoulders though, to make it more comfortable. Thanks!

The length is definitely good. I like the tops of the shoulders - looks like spiky flowers !
But... there might be some repair work to do . Maybe it's just how the scales lay, but there's a few glaring holes. The inlay might show better if you take out 3-5 columns of scales, making the neckline taut.
Good show! A project like this takes dedication!

Thank you!
I did find one hole above the blue pattern. The space on the arm is because of how the scales are laying. Thank you for your suggestion!
