Description An old piece inspired by the movie Dragonslayer. The first movie (I believe) to use computer technology to smooooth out the jumpiness of stop-motion animation.

True. Very good entertainment. Hokey...but in a good way. But Vermithrax...*shaking head* That dragon was truly menacing. So well done!

It was the perfection in stop motion. This movie was the reason Phill Tippet was chosen for Jurassic Park, even when they went full digital, he remained on as Dinosaur Supervisor(CG supervisor) and won an Oscar for it!Β

themovie had so much potential, but the shitty ending ruined it

I actually thought the ending was good because it was realistic. Our main chacters don't get credit for killing the dragon.

It was still terrible.

That's true, Sweet. Typical Disney ending. Pure syrup! 'Dragonslayer' is notable, however, for one of the first uses of a computer to smooth out the jumpy-ness of stop-motion animation. Vermithrax was startlingly cooool!

I noticed when they animated Verminthrax, but if they'd just had the movie end before the crowd of villages came over the hill...then it would of been somewhat good.

and cut the part about them converting

Gee, Sweet...*scratching head* Now I'm going to have to pop the dvd in and take a look. The ending I remember involved the sudden appearance of a horse...and some frivilous banter. Maybe my mind is slipping!

the horse is in it, after they walk away from the king he says, "I wish we had a horse." and one appears (I think it's the same one that ran off when the girl who broke her own wrists to try and escape was sacrificed)

So true...the movie has a charm. Cetainly charming enough to inspire this piece from a (then) young artist!

I like the shape of the flames and the contrast on the wings. It reminds me of Smaug in the Hobbit

I remember struggling with the lighting. A dark cave...molten lava...firebreathing...bounce-lighting. It was driving me nuts! I just kept it as stark as possible.
