Description The Beheamoth tank, the heaviest land vehicle on earth; or atleast the heaviest ever to be produced in series.

Thisone isn't the flying kind atleast, it'd be smaller and have hanging pylons with weapons but I'm kinda still designing thatone -this has taken me plenty enough years to perfect and I'm not even sure this is the final design either.-

Over all I just worked with the description from the earliest scripts that told me:

1) its a huge tank with freestanding 'ontoons' for the four sets of threads.

2) its covered in turrets and has side and aft access-points -double ones actually cause the compartments inside are divided to carry two battle-groups and the potential to stack motorcycles (attack-cycles)

Luckily no size was given but its main weapon is comprized of a front firing tube that launches a missile through a kind of magnetic impeller drive.. in other words, it launches a bullet that unfolds into a seeking missile after a few seconds of air-time and such shells can be launched vertically through a set of hatches on top too.

Beheamoths fill one of two roles; they are either considered drop-ships -in their smaller, flying form- or heavy support and transport vehicles, where the bigger craft depicted here comes in handy, though it has to be transported aboard larger crafts to be of any tactical use in most combat situations.
BUT, it can traverse seas and large landmasses and does offer some comodities, atleast to its crew; the soldiers in the holds aren't meant to spend more than a few hours inside at a time.. or as in most cases.. be entirely consisting of clones.

oh well, lots of writing, not so much drawing, hope you like it anyways.

PS. dun mind the antennae panels, I'm pretty sure I ain't keeping those.

actually, you can color it any way you want, any derivative of mainly red black and white is fine, but also painting it in any pattern and color, but then you gotta include federation symbols as in here [link] (the yellow, blue and red one, it can be in black, red and white whenever the color-scheme is otherwise and RBW stripes such as in [link] are always welcome to show what it belongs to)

I'll do it in red and black, because those look best IMO for this thing. I won't forget the federation symbols; just need to know how to make it with a program instead of actually printing it out and painting/coloring it physically. I have no working scanner.

oh its okay, you don't need them if you stick to the red white and black (and the white details can be kept to a minimum actually )

KK! Maybe I'll use white for the underside of the top part.

i think that the impeller drive you're talking about would be a multi-stage coilgun, which would lead to an untraceable launch point... if that thing weren't so dang obvious.

Caffeinated-Creator In reply to TehGodMan [2009-11-01 19:32:04 +0000 UTC]

kinda, but its got a low output, because the shell is kinda fragile it can't handle the potential of an actual MSC.. railguns have been tested though but I scrapped them for story-reasons -and a possible tactical reason is that they can only fire fixed forward which dosn't suit something as slow moving as this tank- The muzzle velocity is only 520m/s but the projectile itself will reach super-sonic speeds with its own boosters (course most projectiles hit their target before that happens )

TehGodMan In reply to Caffeinated-Creator [2009-11-02 23:00:43 +0000 UTC]

well... it doesn't really have to stand up to that much force, just enough to make it exit at relatively high speeds. you could fire an egg from a properly constructed coilgun and not have it break at 500 FPS.

TehGodMan In reply to Caffeinated-Creator [2009-11-03 22:37:05 +0000 UTC]

well... if it was in a properly built container so it wouldn't shoot toward sthe back, meaning so it rests there the whole time...

Caffeinated-Creator In reply to TehGodMan [2009-11-03 22:52:13 +0000 UTC]

and jolting? mind you, the tank has four threads with very limited suspension, it wouldn't be smart to have a lengthy charge-proceedure, but the main point is that a lower muzzle velocity enhances projectile durability, allows it a larger window to lock on to its target (eh, not really important, the tank itself guides it in most cases) and to initiate its boosters.

Wouldn't you agree?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TehGodMan In reply to Caffeinated-Creator [2009-11-04 01:26:00 +0000 UTC]

yes, but seeing as the tank guides it and the actual projectile would be housed in the shell fired by the coilgun, would the durability of the casing really matter? anyway, with a faster muzzle velocity the boosters would have to do less to get it up to speed, and there would be less time for the enemy to shoot down the missile. anyway... who says that the boosters can't start firing shortly after the shell exits the barrel, say, one second, while it was still running mostly on the effective range of the coilgun? anyway, that way it would also be capable of firing non-powered projectiles as well, making it a much more versatile weapon.

Caffeinated-Creator In reply to TehGodMan [2009-11-04 01:40:06 +0000 UTC]

hmmmm good point; ohh I sort of figured the missile would just have a 'mantle' of very light materials, then unfold wings as modern tank shells often do; I thought with all them moving parts plus the casing it would make it fragile. Don't see a need for non-powered projectiles realy since it can fire them vertically for 'bunker-buster' runs.

TehGodMan In reply to Caffeinated-Creator [2009-11-04 01:58:43 +0000 UTC]

true... but there's still no solution to a door it can't reach that it doesn't want to waste explosives on than a two-ton cylinder of solid steel!
anyway, the missile could be fired from a sabot, so it wouldn't have to unfold wings and it would be able to be loaded in a magazine more easily.

Caffeinated-Creator In reply to TehGodMan [2009-11-04 02:01:40 +0000 UTC]

think both of those points conflict with the story in that 1) ammunition is manufactured in very limited forms (a.e mostly not at all, since other means of chanelling plasma works for offence) and 2) there's no prefferences towards simple solutions, as stupid as it may sound, there's no incentive to have a simpler loading mechanism.

still and once again, good point

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TehGodMan In reply to Caffeinated-Creator [2009-11-04 03:30:32 +0000 UTC]

i didn't say simpler... i meant more practical. have you ever tried to find a way for non-cylindrical objects to load into a tube about their diameter without jamming?
anyway. for some reason, it's just so satisfying to see a three foot thick steel wall crumple like tin foil

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Caffeinated-Creator In reply to TehGodMan [2009-11-04 11:22:04 +0000 UTC]

Well I know that the 'federation' prides itself with that their wepons never jam up (exagerration for sure, but I think that precise loading proceedures may have minimized errors.)
Oh yes; then again, as much a high powered weapon as the behemoth's cannon is, it can't hold a candle to the scorpion tank's lightning grenade -albeit the range of that vehicles shells is a lot more limmited, we are comparing a heavy platform to a medium-light one -

TehGodMan In reply to Caffeinated-Creator [2009-11-07 02:24:20 +0000 UTC]

still. the rounder it is, the less ways thee are for it to jam. round objects also make the best seals with their barrels, meaning more efficient propulsion as well as having less air resistance on the front end.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Caffeinated-Creator In reply to TehGodMan [2009-11-07 02:50:48 +0000 UTC]

the shell is round.. cylindrically round atleast XD just like a modern shell the wings extend from its body when launched so I don't really see what you mean :3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TehGodMan In reply to Caffeinated-Creator [2009-11-07 03:01:38 +0000 UTC]

but that would mean that they would either be out of line or not be able to be as large. either way, that means less control over their flight.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Caffeinated-Creator In reply to TehGodMan [2009-11-07 03:13:02 +0000 UTC]

not really, there is a HEAT missile developed lately that can even be fired from a portable man-held device and has a high level of accuracy; its french-made and I forget its name, but I have seen action footage of it; anyways, the fins are folded as a part of the projectile's body, they're high thickness with mini-guidance thrusters only used to correct the initial launch angle, upon launching its own main thrusters, the projectile will exceed the speed of sound so the window to counter is very, very short - eh sorry if that kinda mixes alot with the description of the already existent weapon, I'm just dead tired
