Description
Finally I feel I'd done this old design of mine, justice.

This is the Raptor; the main transports of choice for all combat groups in my story. Its light, agile and packs a punch, marginally smaller than a Behemoth and has a marginally weaker main weapon though just like the Behemoth's it is a cannon that fires seeking or non-seeking ballistic missiles at supersonic speeds.
It does however lack the turrets of aforementioned flying and non flying tanks, but it does sport a lot of concealed cannons and missile-launchers.
Perhaps sadly enough, no other model among the federation's air-force vehicles, has been lost in as large a number as the Raptors, but there are a lot of them to go around. Something that ads to that statistic is also that they are notoriously difficult to salvage (if even enough survives to make it worthwhile to salvage the wreckage) and the pivoting wing-mounts freeze up without constant maintenance so the battlefields are more or less riddled with petrified husks with their wings proudly defying gravity in one way or another. Make great shields to hide behind though in firefights.

The top sketch shows the craft in landed and VTOL configuration (also takes on the pose if under heavy fire) and the bottom shows it in flight/inbound configuration (it also extends its wings like that to fire from weapon-mounts at the middle of the wings, if sporting these)
