Description somehow me and had very similar ideas the other day (okay, actually a while back; I've just been too busy to submit anything, let alone this) about planes with variable wing telemetry; our planes were even both named "Sparrow" which somehow was a freaky coincidence, but maybe not totally unexpected since they both have wings that can flap like those of a bird.

That is not the primary function of the wings of the Raven though -yes I renamed it, to let him have the honour of the original name AND cause I thought this name suits my plane better anyway- but rather helps aid other functions.
You have probably not guessed it, but the wings can alter their shapes not only at the hinges but the segments can "scoop" "curve" "bulge" and otherwise change their shapes by means of artificial, muscular tissue and tendons and similar systems.
In fact, the entire plane is soft, but slick and malleable, able to adapt its aero-dynamical frame to most situations, rivalling the Phoenix in its roles.

However, despite its size, the Raven is not particularly fast or well armed or armoured; it is extremely manoeuvrable and can change its flight patterns very radically from one moment to the next, making this a tactical fighter plane for the more varied pilot.

The federation has a tactic to employ Raven's for hit and run spearhead tactics, where they can swoop in, carrying heavy bombs and missiles a considerable distance, then drop their payload off to strike, then - using their now freed agility and speed, they can either return to base, or join in any following strafing runs.

Ravens can carry side mounted turrets, their main armament is almost solely comprised of missiles, but the areas of the wings, closest to the fuselage joints, can carry medium cannons.
The rear of the plane can separate and houses the cockpit with life-support, to serve as an escape-pod if the front is too damaged and renders the plane unusable.
Ravens have VTOL ability and can swerve mid-air to make standing turn-arounds, albeit not at high altitude or with too strong headwind.

The tip of the beak just made me think of "toucan". XD;

originally that was an option in my mind, as was "puffin" but neither seemed to do it justice especially since its an aggressive plane, so.. Raven it had to be :3 (not graceful enough to be a raptor like "hawk" or "falcon")

was kinda the idea; it came to me with the name :3

thanks ^^ a lot of thinking went into it, but I still didn't get to show off how flexible that whole thing is, what with the kinda soft and malleable hull and all :3

I love the design of this, especially the 'beak' of the ship itself, it fits the name well
(can I also just sit here and love the name?)

:3 I sorta came up with that when I renamed it, the entire front is more or less an engine, with an additional midships and back. :3
thanks for the comment siss :3

(sure you can *hands you soda* if you don't feel like answering the note :3)
