My ICA submission for the Concept Art and scriptwriting section of my course.Tis the first time I've ever tried to paint a landscape lol. It probably shows.

I likely will make some landscape design... I'm not much of an artist, but will use some computer program to make a 3d concept... Problem is I'm such a gamer that I haven't even bother with the blender totorials... Only thing I can say is that its like yours but is a flat plain format with countless spires of varying height all over, and a slight rise or dip here or there, with the center being a massive towering one, and same sky desgin wiht constant random lightning strikes sure to insta kill... Ah the problems with being an ideas person...

Well 3d is just as good as anything! Ahh yeah tutorials are kinda boring but I found with the 3d modelling tutorials I had to do this year that they've been pretty rewarding tbf. Sorta like it's a bit of a struggle through but in the end you have an awesome looking chess pawn or a semi realistic phonebox or tv lol.
On the other hand being an ideas person is in no way a bad thing. That's where the job title of design comes in. As long as you can communicate your ideas in thumbnails or even verbally to your artist then you can see them come to life!
Just make sure yoy keep jotting stuff down when it pops up, I have so many ideas I completely forget. Some of them could have been pretty decent lol.
On the subject of your plains idea, have you played final fantasy 10? Cuz I'm getting a mental image of an environment from that game only the spires in ff10 are lightning rods.

Unfortunately I have never played any fanil fantasy games at all, but the spires would be made of pure rock, sort alike that fond in a wasteland part of a desert where there is bare craggy rock but no sand, and same for the ground.
And yes I've jotted my ideas down check out the spredsheet scheenshots in my gallery [link] planing on updating them soon... and if you look at the bird like creature in the monster list, thats essential what the whole idea spwaned from after hearing a song on the radio..., of course though its a different stat format, but atks the same more or less for a 3d mmorpg...
