Hand Drawing Tutorial

This is how I draw hands and hope it will help others.

1) draw out the base hand, I do this by using objects and shapes we are familiar with such as circles, rectangles, triangles and cones. The palm is a rectangle with curved corners near the knuckles. Knuckles are circles and the fingers are cones.

2) once the objects are down I created the lineart for the hand and sometimes use my own hand as a reference.

3) put shadow, tone or cross hatching on to create a shadowed effect (I haven't done this but it is so you can see the construction lines)

4) ink your hand then erase the guidelines. There!

I have left the guidelines in however so you can see how I have worked it out. Hope this helps and if you can think of another tutorial you would like leave a comment below.
