Description Cloud coverage hid the impressive Mitre Peak, leading me to focus on something different I decided to make a tightly cropped panoramic view

Milford Sound, New Zealand

Really good shot buddy. It works very well as a B&W.

I'm jealous of the weather you got, when I was there it was just a blown out white sky.

That is a very wet area too. We were lucky enough to get the dry, it was just cloudy with bright sun behind it. I guess the swarms of sandflies did help darken it a bit

I love this and then the black and white just seem to make the whole scene even more beautiful then a color print would have.

the sharpening is way over the top, as =IvanAndreevich already mentioned a lot of halo effects are noticeable.
otherwise a nice capture

did you use a highpass filter in this one?

CainPascoe In reply to da-phil [2011-07-21 14:09:32 +0000 UTC]

nope, its the same sharpening action i use on ALL my images. similar to the "Marc Adamus" sharpening technique. just re-sharpened it but masked out the areas that had obvious halos. cheers

Very strong sharpening halo running along the edge of the rock... Nothing that 30 seconds with a history tool doesn't fix

Backed it off in places mostly right-hand side..
