Description
if i could be anything
i'd be a rocket ship
to scale the ink-black depths of hell
past the glittering stars
moons, planets
and soar to your side
and inevitably,
i would miss
but for that one moment
careening in a wild turn
briefly realizing your orbit
i would be happy.
seventy thousand miles
so lost and cold
breaking as a bloody supernova
of monolithic proportions
in cardiovascular contortions
sucking the passing debris greedily
into my black-hole-heart
and through it all,
i would remember
the fleeting warmth
of a now-distant luminary
glowing brightly in its wreath of stardust
eyes trained on the unattainable.
would you?
