They sky is a blue-grey sheet today.If I slid my fingers down its opulent back
it would feel like silk.
I imagine that when I look upward,
I am staring into God's irises,
and when the hours turn to midnight
his eyes are upon me.

Ooh, I can see that as being like velvet, definitely. Something made me think of silk, though, I don't know why. Maybe it was the rain.
