Description
Dog on loveseat,buttercream curled softly,
whiskers twitching on each
exhalation.
Coffee pale with cream,
half a teaspoon of maple syrup,
sipped slowly with
a prayer shawl 'round my shoulders.
Sunlight on the hardwood,
bringing out honeyed tones.
The sugar maple
on the back-road hill crest,
its metamorphosis from
summer green to
gentle gold
fierce orange,
burgundy-crimson.
Kindergarten ingenuity,
describing the same thing
with different eyes
and fewer words.
"I love you"
sleepily whispered
when the lights are out.

I love how things seem to shade down the colors of an autumnal palette, into night.

Oooh, I love getting comments like this--ones that could be lines of poetry themselves. If you feel so inclined, I'd love to see you turn this comment into a poem with this as the first few lines.
And thank you for such a beautiful comment!

Mm, that's what I was going for, and it's what I felt while writing it. I'm very glad I could impart that same feeling!
