So this is the Glass Intellect that I've been looking forward to posting. It's basically Intellect GI except with glass materials. It's a step up from the classic Intellect because it now features GI, though the effects of GI aren't really noticeable because of all of the reflective maps. you may notice the caustics at the bottom of the shapes, particularly near the white rook.

I think this is my best Intellect render so far. I'm going to try a darker environment render to feature how GI handles caustics. I only wish the caustics were more noticeable here. When they're distinct, they're absolutely fantastic.

Suggestions are welcome.

I was worried that it was a bit too dramatic for a wallpaper, especially with the neutral environment colors, but it sits just fine on my desktop.

Thanks. This is likely the best of all of my chess renders so far.

This is what I was waiting for. Great job man. How much render time? 10 hours?

Hah, a surprising 5hr 21min. I was shocked when it finished so quickly, but after thinking about it, it sounded about right.

VRay (the renderer I use) tends to take a long time doing light calculations. That's what GI is: indirect illumination. Since transparent objects don't bounce light (or reflect light) but refract light, there is no indirect illumination. VRay is very quick doing refractions which is what all of the chess pieces are, just lots of refractions. Less indirect illumination means a quicker render.

Funny how the non-glass Intellect took about the same time as this glass one. At first glance, you would expect this one to take hours more.
