Description
"And there they found, waiting for them, him from whom they had fled. There were others in that burrow also - shadows without sound or smell. The Black Rabbit has his Owsla, too, you know. I would not care to meet them." ~Watership DownNot my normal style, or my normal subject - but I've been reading Watership Down lately, and I had to draw some rabbits.

Oh my god a Watership Down artwork *-*
So rare and even more so rarely brilliant.
If you liked that book, I hope you don't mind me recommending the books "The Sight", "Fell" (<- those two actually are two volumes of the same story) and Firebringer by David Clement-Davies.
Not sure how hard it is in the U.S to get a hold of them but if you ever manage to get them, give them a shot. They're reeeeaaally good.
Besides I wouldn't mind seeing you painting something from those novels xD

OH MY GOSH WATERSHIP DOWN!! I was never able to get a hold of the books or the movie but I've heard so much about it and I've seen so many videos that it's amazing when I find art of it because I'd love to watch the movie and maybe the book if it's not too long

Brilliant composition. I like your interpretation of the Owsla as shadows of the Black Rabbit himself.

Thanks! Reading that scene gave me such a cool mental image, I just had to draw it out - I love it when books can do that!

Now I just have to force my hands to crank out what my brain sees.

I dunno, from what the books says that Owsla were pretty inefficient. More shadow than substance really.

I'm re-reading this at the moment too. It's a genuinely spooky book, considering it's about fluffsome bunnies. Anyway. Lovely, dark piece - and I would not want to come upon Inle or his Owsla.

Indeed - I'll never look at rabbits in the same light - they're tough little critters, even if they are fluffy and adorable ;3

I love it, too - the rabbit's folklore makes the world so immersive - makes me feel like a rabbit myself!

The book is very good - long, but it holds your interest every step of the way. I highly recommend it! I'll have to watch the animation one of these days.

Death alone is never really evil, it just is. However, as living beings who have a built-in fear of dying, we tend to see death in a negative light.
