Description This idea popped into my head last night. trying to express emotion without an actual drawing isnt easy. this is my first foray into the whole abstract type art so if anyone has any tips or pointers or critiques, please leave them for me. the eye is taken from a picture of ~lasileargent and i used many brushes from nocturna.net, prettybrush.com, and #asunder to make this. all done in photoshop.

-------just so you know-------

Since i am getting so many comments about the eye in the middle, i just wanted to say this - i intended for it to be a white rectangle there because i liked the strange effect that i dont think i would get if the eye was just black or if it were rounded or anything. there is a slightly larger version of the eye in the lower right of the pic that does not have any of the white in it. it is supposed to be distracting from the rest of the image (not that i dont want people to look at the rest of the image, but the distraction is part of what i was trying to convey). anywho, thank you guys for the critiques thus far, i do appreciate it!

Very nicely done... But I would say fade the background into that of the eye or round the edges on the white background of the eye... ^_^

thanks. in the lower right there is a version of the eye sans the white, but i wanted the strange look of the white rectangle in the center of the pic. much thanks for the comment and critique though!

You're welcome! I try my best... and since you did intend to bring all attention to the eye and mood... well done!

Yeah i can agree that the white rectangle is kinda distracting from the rest of the image. sorry i can't map out instructions on how to do this like the comment before me, but i think it would make for better harmony in the piece if you fade into the eye instead of just having a block and maybe put a little red in it. The background is awesome tho; I really like it!

thanks for the comment and critique. like i said to moles, however, i wanted the strange look of having the white rectangle in the midst of the black and red, and i actually have a just black version of the eye in the lower right, but i'll try you guys' suggestion to see how it would look also. thanks!

hey thats pretty cool

i reccommend you try one thing though, just to see if you like how it turns out.

make a layer just full of black or white or red or soemthing that goes well with the picture
add a layer mask to the layer thats all black (hide layer)
take the eye layer and invert the colours
maybe turn the contrast on the eye layer up just a little bit
copy the contents of the eye layer into the layer mask of the block of colour layer
delete the eye layer

then it would get rid of the rectangle, and only the effect of they eye would be tehre
see how it goes *shrugs*
cool pic neways

hmm...i might try that just to see how it looks, but i actually wanted the rectangle with the eye bcs i think that it makes for a very strange look to have the white rectangle. if you look closely i have just the black part of the eye in the lower right part of the pic. thanks for the suggestion though!
