Even amongst the freedom-loving and individualistic nature of the Autobots, Cypher pushed the limits of that. A hacker and borderline anarchist on Cybertron, she refused to conform to any part of the robotic society that had built her. No one knows why, she was just built that way. That changed in the early days of the war when she was caught breaking into Decepticon transmission ciphers just for fun, and was sent to be executed with a variety of other POWs and political prisoners. Rescued with the rest by Cliffjumper, she eventually signed on with the Autobots. Her courage was proved time and again doing reconnaissance and courier work under Blurr, but her attitude prevented her from ever getting promoted. Optimus Prime once said she had earned the medals she wore, despite or perhaps because of the fact she called him a “tyrant” to his faceplate during the ceremony.

When the Autobots woke up on Earth, she eventually showed up at a secondary base in New York, just driving in as if no time had passed at all in her new vehicle form, and the addition of “punk” at the end of her name. How, or even when, she had gotten to Earth remains a mystery.

Advantages: Absolutely courageous and unpredictable in combat, she uses her light weight and high speed to slam into her targets hard and fast before they even know they're in contact with the enemy.
Disadvantages: Aside from her personality, Cypherpunk weighs less than Bumblebee and can be overtaken by a brawler if caught. This is a harder thing than most Decepticons can concieve, as Kup once referred to her fighting style as being like that of a “Numedian Wolverine”.

Trivia: Cypherpunk is rumoured to have helped, and possibly even started, Phone Phreaking on Earth.
