You have no right to decide what is art and what is not. What if this was meant to be art? Don't you think you would have hurt someone's feelings?
Maybe it is your preference that people use dA for only a certain quality of work, but dA is not that kind of community. People can share whatever they like here, even candids. Next time you comment something rude on someone's photo or artwork please take the time to think and be considerate; or better yet, if you don't like a deviation, simply delete it from your inbox. You'll never have to see it again, and you won't have to go around making yourself look like a prick.

If you can't tolerate someone making real criticizations of your art then maybe you should disable comments, I wasn't aware in the rules that comments were a line where everyone got to blow the artist.
not everything is art, and if you try to construe everything as art it debases the very integrity of art, taking a blurry, poorly composed photo of your fucking cat doesnt belong here

I can see that you are not going to understand the reason I am arguing with you.
Bottom line: You are not who gets to decide what is art and what is not. That is the artist's decision. This has been a defining attribute of the art community from the start.
Deviant art does not have a policy on what quality of work is accepted here. CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is fine about any piece. However when you outright and blatantly insult someone's work, you are doing yourself and the community a disservice. I am not arguing your right to criticize, and I am not saying that you need to "blow the artist" as you so quaintly put it.
If you don't like someone's deviation, remove yourself from the situation, or provide them with constructive feedback. Don't go out of your way to offend someone. YOUR ATTITUDE is what I am trying to point out here, not whether or not this piece "deserves" to be in someone's gallery. Someone else's gallery, by the way, is their own jurisdiction, and they may put whatever they like in it as long as it abides by deviantArt's rules. Furthermore, the piece in question is not violating any rules. If you want to be a part of a community in which the artists live up to your expectations, then by all means, create your own artistic utopia with stricter rules. But for now, when you are on deviantArt, please respect your fellow artists!
