Sablepaw was chosen to be mentored by the ShadowClan leader himself. Halfstar is dangerous and brash; known as the Brash Leader to the other clans, he was made leader at a very young age; almost just out of apprenticeship and because of his young age and lack of wisdom many cats think he was the wrong choice on StarClan's part, not to mention that he had never had an apprentice.
Halfstar's recklessness made him stupid when it came to leadership and yet he tried his best for his clan, but in doing so lost many of his lives. Not many cats know that Halfstar has only two lives left, for you would not guess it because he is still so young. He now puts his warriors under his own safety, using them as shields to protect his last lives.

Halfstar's vision for ShadowClan is that of a monarchy somewhat; he wants all leaders after him to carry his blood just like a king would. That may mean asking his own deputy, Crowstalker, to step down, or maybe killing him would work better. After halfstar takes a mate and has a litter of his own, there will be no need for Crowstalker after the kits are warriors.
Halfstar has yet to take a mate though because no she-cat will have him...

He chose Sablepaw as his apprentice in hopes that she would share his ideals and be as great as Halfstar once was, but some cats sense a deeper prospect behind the leaders favor of the she-cat.
There is no such thing as an arranged courtship in the clans, but Halfstar has changed many things already... could this be one of his visions for ShadowClan?
Will some young hansome tom save poor Sablepaw from this fate?
