Description
Not sure, but probably among my first (if not the very first) anthros, long before I ever knowing that word.I also knew no materials other than crayons, either.

I know I'm late to the party, but I actually LOVE the fact that the body doesn't have any fur! This is my kind of thing, I've searched the internet for a long time to find images like this, where the subject has a purely animal head, but a purely human body. I just love the contrast.

Given how long ago this was, and that it was one of your first, we can certainly forgive you for not applying the fur to the rest of the body. I wasn't even born back then, so there! It must have been tough not being able to share things like this online. It's certainly not the kind of thing you can just hang up in your room, unless you have your own house and no visitors, anyway.

You're right.
Long ago, I was pretty sure about being the only (or one of the few) person with such tastes.
Finding the anthro community here in DA was a pleasant surprise.

I felt the same when I was a young teen. Fortunately the internet was just starting to become accessible, and even though dA was still a design gallery back in the early 2000s, places like VCL showed me there was like-minded talent out there. Now everyone can take it for granted!

This was made in 1987??
Jeez that really makes me more aware of how long anthros have like this have been around...This was even before the Internet.
If I grew up in that era I have no idea how I would've gotten interested in anthros without the Internet. O.o
Really amazing (feels almost historic) piece you have here xD

Yes, I didn't even hear about anthros until a few years ago.
There's a theory about beauty is NOT "in the eye of beholder", but something deeper in human nature. We all like open, clear, grassy field-like landscapes just because our prehistoric ancestors lived there.
So, it's just natural that people develop liking for anthros long before knowing anything about the anthro subculture itself. It's something born with you. Just like being gay, bdsm and so on.

Hmmm now that you mention it, it makes me think I probably would have naturally started drawing them.
Very nice thing to think about^^

What the other guy said...brilliantly executed but looks more like a human with a dogs head rather than a furry. You need to find a balance between the two aspects; the head should have more humanoid features and the body more animal features...

Actually I'd say the head's fine, body just needs fur.

Although I can appreciate the technical brilliance of this, it still looks creepy.
Amazing job with such limited materials
